What is “The Rou†ing?

The Fairfield Christian Group (FCG) is a loose association of believers from across the denominational spectrum, who share a common work place.

In late 1993, an employee approached the Vice President of Human Resources and said, “We should start a group of active Christians so we can team-up and get God involved in the activities here. We can make a difference.”

23 people attended the charter meeting. Questions were raised regarding the purpose and scope of the group, and it was agreed that they would have a regular study of the Bible, bring up issues regarding the welfare of fellow employees, pray for God’s blessing and guidance for the business and to spread the Gospel.

At the next meeting, the motto, “In Gear for Christ!” was adopted. The question arose, “How do we spread the Gospel?” Transcribing and condensing sermons, including the scripture references, and publishing them in the form of a weekly newsletter was suggested. It would be a non-invasive presentation available for anyone to accept or reject.

And so, “The Routing” was born. It was distributed weekly – to include different venues – for nearly 9 years. It’s interruption was due to numerous factors adequately summarized by the “seed choked by thorns” (Mt 13:22). But “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Ro 11:29), and so the mantle has been taken back up.

In it’s previous incarnation, The Routing was physically published at a local print shop, and distribution was limited by the resources of the members and to the local environment. Since then, with the development of the Internet, the scope of it’s distribution is not constrained by physical limitations.

The Fairfield Christian Group can now pursue fulfilling the “Great Commission” to take the Gospel into all the World. FCG is about our Father’s business of “scribing.” If you approve of this material, you can join in the business by “subscribing.”

Frequency of Publication

The Routing was originally published as a weekly devotional. Our intention is to increase the frequency to an eventual daily publication. Subscriptions will accelerate that development.
